Who We Are
Sunrise Earthworks LLC is a Sevier County based-business, providing custom based forestry mulching services, using sustainable land management practices. We provide our customers with a variety of options to improve their land for a variety of uses.
Owner and founder, John Olson, has an extensive background working in a high-risk industry that requires immense skill, detailed calculations, exquisite communication, as well as requiring peak performance 100% of the time. After 26 years of working in the field of aviation, he has retired that industry to move into another life-long field of interest in land improvement.
Not only did he fly helicopters, specializing in long line work, John also managed, trained, and led a team of over 15 helicopter pilots working in the arenas of firefighting, power line work, search and rescue and other long-line-work assignments.
He is now using his skills and talents of precision, attention to detail, safety and more to the ground, working with the earth. You can view some of his past precision work with aviation work here:
Fast forward to present times…
John Olson, founder and owner of Sunrise Earthworks, has moved from Kauai, Hawaii to Sevierville, Tennessee. He is a husband, father and hard working man who has a reputation for putting his everything into all that he does. His wife always says, “He’s got the tools and he knows how to use them. And if he can’t fix it, it’s broken.”
John strives to serve his client’s needs to his upmost potential. He communicates each step of the way and respects the fact that he is working to improve your investments and bring greater value to your properties. Here at Sunrise Earthworks, we see our job as creating artistry with earth.
If John is not moving earth with an excavator or track loader, you will find him enjoying time with his family, and his Belgium Malinois, in the great outdoors. He also
We are currently prepping parts of this land for a permaculture food forest which we will use our produce to sell at farmer’s markets and online markets. We will grow starts and create mulch from wood on our land to sell others in the community also.
We purchased this land in September of 2021 and currently are starting food production on three acres by preparing the soil. With this we will begin our building our infrastructure on the land. We will have orchards, annuals, perennials and also growing trees to harvest.
Sunrise Earthworks LLC currently operates a dump truck, an excavator and a skid steer. This equipment is used both on the 132 acres and for business elsewhere.
The projected dates include planting orchards and gardens this year. The orchards will produce food for sale in 2-5 years. The business providing maintenance of agricultural land is currently in the making and we already have a couple clients waiting for our services.
